SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the electronic device for determination of the digital interface of the connected external device for control of the data transmission module. The offered device contains a control unit 123 of a receiving device 120 which comprises a determination unit 124 for determination whether the source device 110 is connected or not to the receiving device 120, whether the digital interface of the of data transmission module 112 of the source device 110 corresponds to the standard of the interface for high definition (HDMI) multimedia or to the new standard. In case when the data reception module 122 can support both HDMI standard, and the new standard, on the basis of result of definition obtained by the definition module 124, the control module 123 switches operation of the data reception module 122 to execution of operations according to the digital interface of the data transmission module 112 of the source device 110.

EFFECT: possibility of definition of a digital interface of connected external device and control of a data transmission module according to a digital interface of connected external device.
