FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining glyoxylic acid sodium salt from glyoxal oxidation products includes processing of reaction products at control of pH medium with calcium compounds by: oxide, hydroxide or carbonate to pH 5-6 to form mixture of poorly-soluble sediments of glyoxylic and oxalic acids calcium salts, which are filtered, and dried, after which composition of mixture is determined and it is roiled in water in amount 1 g of salt mixture per 10-30 ml of water with addition of orthophosphate, oxalate or sodium carbonate in form of solution or solid salts with the following filtration, evaporation of solution and crystallisation of sodium salt, with orthophosphate, oxalate or sodium carbonate being taken in quantity 0.9-1.0 mole per each mole of calcium glyoxalate, contained in mixture.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to apply available reagents in order to obtain products with high output and purity.
