FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: optical information extractor comprises a radiation source which is optically coupled with a data medium, a hollow opaque housing in which there is a photodetector which is optically coupled through a corresponding light guide to the data medium and which enables transformation of radiation reflected from the data medium and transmitted by the light guide into an electrical signal, wherein the light guides are made as part of the light-sensitive surface of the photodetector, wherein each light guide is in the form of a light-sensitive light-reflecting surface which forms a hollow structure. All hollow structures face the data medium with their imaginary large end faces, which are superimposed with corresponding entrance openings of the housing and have a variable cross-section, which enables to move radiation reflected from the data medium and incident on the side of the imaginary large end face only in the direction of the smaller end face of the light guide and subsequent concentration of the radiation reflected from the data medium in the region of the smaller end face.
EFFECT: high detection efficiency optical and electro-optical devices owing to more complete and reliable reading of an incoming signal.
