SUBSTANCE: when sending laser radiation towards the target the upper edge of the radiation field of the transmitting channel, comprising the transmitting optical system and a radiator, is combined with the direction towards the purpose, in the reception channel registration, amplification and optimum signal filtration with measurement of the moment of the filtered signal maximum are performed. Determination of range to the target is performed according to the measurement and control circuit which has two additional inputs to which the information on current values of target height and sighting angle is supplied, and two additional control outputs, the first of which is connected to the amplifier input with controlled pass-band width, and the second - with the maximum registration circuit.

EFFECT: target identification in conditions of existence of several power centres in the reflected signal and preservation of high precision at various target viewing angles.
