FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: shell is installed in place of fixing fixedly and treated with a tool that performs rotational movement around the axis of the shell and forms a collar. The tool is attached obliquely to the shell axis simultaneously with its rotation around the axis of the shell. The treating tool axis makes with its shank axis a cone with vertex of spatial angle α in the centre of the contact surface of the tool. The shell is crimped downwards with the progressive precessional motion of the treating tool, and the treating tool is used as a matrix with a recess in the form a smooth annular groove corresponding to the size and diameter of the shell collar.
EFFECT: improvement of quality of the shell surface of hunting rifles.
