SUBSTANCE: invention relates to insect monitoring. A trap includes a device for catching flies and a control cylinder. The cylinder is connected to the outlet of the insect catching device. The cylinder includes an insect detector and a chamber. The chamber receives images of insects inside the cylinder. Dimensions of the cross section of the control cylinder are chosen so that insects have to creep through it, but not fly through.

EFFECT: providing a possibility of automated insect monitoring.
