FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to storage and extraction of hydrogen isotopes and can be used in high- and low-pressure gas-fired plants. The method of storing and extracting hydrogen isotopes includes preliminary sorption of gas with a hydride-forming metal placed in a sealed housing and subsequent desorption of the gas from the obtained metal hydride. The sorption and desorption reactions are controlled by heating with an induction heater. The sealed housing is made of an electrically insulating material which is capable of withstanding the sorption and desorption reaction temperatures. The apparatus for storing and extracting hydrogen isotopes comprises a sealed housing having inside it a briquette of a hydride-forming metal or a hydride thereof, a filter element, a pipeline for feeding and removing gas and an induction heater mounted outside the housing.
EFFECT: invention provides more complete extraction of hydrogen isotopes, faster sorption and desorption processes, low diffusion losses of hydrogen isotopes and safer operation of the apparatus.
