FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: diagnostic method of a value of axial clearance in a ball hinge of a motor vehicle is achieved due to use of two vibration pickups. The first vibration pickup fixes vibrations occurring immediately in a diagnosed connection of the head of the ball hinge and a polymer insert. The second vibration pickup installed on a suspension lever so that it adjoins the diagnosed ball hinge at the distance of 10-15 cm from the first vibration pickup fixes vibrations in the suspension lever. Their comparative analysis allows more accurate detection of harmonics and frequency components of signals, which are typical for the clearance in the ball hinge connection.
EFFECT: simpler diagnostic process of ball hinges of motor vehicles; acquisition of information at diagnostics, which allows estimating a clearance value of a ball hinge and its residual life.
