SUBSTANCE: guard rail for a moving sidewalk (1) or an escalator includes a moving handrail (12) and a guide for the moving handrail (12), along which the moving handrail (12) is moved along its longitudinal axis by means of a drive from an electric motor. The moving handrail (12) passes along the guide in a position turned through 90 degrees about its longitudinal axis along an arched section of the guide. The handrail (12) is located on the side of the guard rail, which faces from the moving sidewalk.
EFFECT: invention provides the reduction of stiffness of the handrail at its rotation in turning sections.
