FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the graphitised shaped cathode device for aluminium production. The cathode device contains main unit and graphitised slowing-down cathode unit. On the longitudinal edges of the main unit two groups of grooves are made symmetrically. The feed stock used for the specified graphitised slowing-down cathode unit manufacturing contains calcinated oil coke, electrically calcinated anthracite, coal-tar asphalt, alloying admixture TiB2 and SiC. The graphitised slowing-down cathode unit is installed in groove made by both specified grooves with overlapping of the connecting joint between two main units.
EFFECT: effect of power saving and reduced expanses, reduced effective thickness of the main unit and impact on its service life, achievement of partial structural reinforcement of the main unit and increased service life of the electrolyser.
