FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to synthesis of zirconium diboride, and can be used for production of covers of high-temperature thermocouples, heaters of high-temperature electric furnaces of resistance, evaporators and boats for vacuum metallization, crucibles for precision metallurgy, pipes for pumping of melted metals. The method of producing of zirconium diboride includes heating of furnace charge from mix of zirconium dioxide, boron carbide and high-disperse carbon material. Heating is performed at the temperature 1600-1700°C within 25-30 minutes, while the particles of carbide of boron have the maximum size 1 micron, the specific surface of high-disperse carbon material is 138-160 m2/g, and the high-disperse carbon material is nanofibrous carbon.
EFFECT: method is aimed at reduction of energy consumption.
