FIELD: atomic physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering and can be used in making ionising radiation sources for medical purposes. The method includes filling a capsule with ionising radiation sources. Ionising radiation sources in the form of cobalt workpieces with diameter of 1 mm and length of 1 mm, stacked in a first open hopper in advance, are transported one by one using magnetic forces through a unit for loading into the capsule, to which compensators are additionally transported one by one from a second open hopper using magnetic forces through the unit for loading into the capsule. The number of ionising radiation sources and compensators is measured by a counter. Capsules are loaded at a loading post and capsules are replaced at a replacement post by moving the capsules with a distant arm of a manipulator. Also disclosed is an apparatus for operation in a radiation-protected "hot" chamber.
EFFECT: easier loading of ionising radiation sources into capsules using compensators.
