FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the determination of a channel quality indicator (CQI) in communication networks which support multi-user (MU) MIMO mode (MU-MIMO). The method includes creating a knowledge base on the correlation between the receiving quality index of a mobile station and a precoding circuit of at least a second mobile station with differences as a downlink between a base station and each mobile station for single-user (SU) MIMO mode (SU-MIMO) relative to the MU-MIMO mode; determining the precoding circuit selected by each mobile station for the SU-MIMO mode, the CQI in SU-MIMO mode and receiving quality index data for each mobile station; determining a pair from two or more mobile stations for sharing a first communication resource block, while said two or more mobile stations are operating in MU-MIMO mode, and after switching the mobile station from SU-MIMO mode to MU-MIMO mode, using the knowledge base to associate precoding circuit data and receiving quality index data with predicted channel quality degradation.
EFFECT: minimising channel capacity costs associated with transmission of overhead relating to the CQI parameter by mobile stations.
