FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: criterion represents the difference in groove height and that of surface beyond said groove. This method differs from known processes in that cylinder surface is measured by appropriate 3D tools and measurement field is selected so that its opposite sides cross at least two grooves. Measurement of micro profile point height is performed in cross-section over groove bottom parallel with groove generating line. Measurement results (measurement file) is stored as 2D array (A0). Mean A0 (Amean) is calculated to, then, derive therefrom array (A0) height graph the coordinates of intersection of the deepest portion of grooves with measurement field boundaries. Height coordinates of the portion of measured surface points are selected from 2D array A0 that belong in cross-section over groove bottom parallel with groove generating line in array A consisting of N points. Then, N1, the number of A array points, is calculated to satisfy the conditions A(i) > Amean, where A(i) is the height of A array point. Then, partial factor of groove degeneracy (KBKj) is defined for isolated grooves by the formula: KBKj = Nj/N, and KBK of measured field is calculated as the mean of partial factors of groove degeneracy (KBKj) to decide on ICE cylinder surface quality after flat-top honing.
EFFECT: higher accuracy and validity.
