FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine a degree of individual resistance to decompression illness (DI) in females aged 50-60 years. A patient is submerged in a compression chamber at a depth of 30 metres, stays at this depth for 1 hour and is being decompressed for 63 minutes. A simple visual-motor response (SVMRref) is measured 30 minutes before submerging. Pulse pressure (PP"пс") and critical flicker fusion frequency (CFFF"пс") are measured 30 minutes after submerging in the compression chamber at a depth of 30 metres, staying at the above depth for 1 hour and decompressing for 63 minutes. A DI resistance index in females aged 50-60 years (DIRIF50-60) is determined by formula: DIRIF50-60=4.325+0.012×PP"пс"+0.002×SVMRref-0.109×CFFF"пс" wherein: PP"пс" is the pulse pressure measured after submerging, mm Hg; SVMRref is the simple visual-motor response measured before submerging, ms; CFFF"пс" is the critical flicker fusion frequency measured after submerging, ms. If the index is up to and including 0.92, the female is supposed to have a high degree of DI resistance. The index falling within the range of more than 0.92 to 2.75 shows a moderate degree of DI resistance. A low degree of DI resistance is indicated by the index of 2.75 or more.

EFFECT: method enables providing the more accurate determination of resistance to decompression illness by the differentiated evaluation of the age-specific parameter.
