FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to monitoring of temperature of mechanical units of the vehicle driven by internal combustion engine. For determination of assessed value of air temperature outside the vehicle (1) driven by the internal combustion engine (5), an initial estimated value is assigned to the estimated temperature, then the temperature of air, supplied to the engine (5) is measured, and the vehicle speed is assessed. The mathematical filtration of measured temperature of air, supplied to the engine (5) is performed, note that the filtration sets to estimated temperature the maximum gradient taking with time two different positive values, and one or another of these values of the maximum positive gradient is selected depending on the instant speed of a vehicle.
EFFECT: accuracy and reliability of assessment of values of temperature for avoiding of risk of the unit overheat is achieved.
