FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to internal combustion engines, in particular for vehicles, comprising a circuit for partial recirculation of exhaust gases, as well as to a method of controlling and regulating operation of such engines. In compliance with this invention, device (1) for controlling air consumption by internal combustion engine comprises first circuit (30) for estimating a first predetermined value (Qair_cons1) external air flow rate of the engine and additionally comprises second circuit (31) for estimating preset air flow rate, made with possibility to generate on the basis of temperature (TEGR_B), measured at level of pipeline (45) of exhaust gas recirculation, and first predetermined value (Qair_cons1) of external air flow rate, increased preset value (Qcons) of air flow rate exceeding or equal to the first specified value (Qair_cons1) of external air flow rate.

EFFECT: technical result is control of temperature of circulated gases, which is provided by creation of internal combustion engine control and adjustment device, which enables to perform constant correction of engine operating point relative to predetermined value of accelerator pedal of vehicle and simultaneous continuous monitoring of one or more temperatures of sensitive points of engine gas recirculation circuit to avoid deviation of said temperatures above one or more threshold values.
