FIELD: motor vehicle industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of methods and systems for controlling the engine of a vehicle. Proposed are methods and systems for improving engine spark and torque control. In accordance with one embodiment, adaptive spark control may include use of a modifier that adjusts the estimated octane number of the fuel, and adaptation of the spark based on the humidity of the ambient air.
EFFECT: method provides the possibility of reducing the effect of humidity on the octane number, depending on the speed of rotation and load.
