FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electron beam welding of circular butts, particularly, to welding by scanning electron beam and can be used in machine building. First, beam sweep path is aligned with butt being welded. Electron beam is split to several pseudo beams. The latter are distributed along circular butt and scanning is conducted in closed circular path in one direction. During intermittent transfer of electron beam to welding points circular butt is crossed multiple times between said points in zigzag line not extending beyond the preset zone of thermal effects on butt both sides.
EFFECT: decreased thermal influence on central section of welded article, lower residual strain and stress that cause hot and cold cracks.
