SUBSTANCE: method is implemented by shunting a rectified current circuit by one or two links connected between cathode and anode busbars consisting of an in-series interconnected diode and thyristor, which are opened by sending to its control electrode a control pulse with a respective phase matching the operation mode of the converter, and non-contact cut-off at transfer from the rectifier mode to the inverter mode and back by one of the above links from the anode busbar by means of the thyristor, which switches off this link by its closed state within the transfer period and the period of the converter operation in the selected mode.

EFFECT: higher power factor.
