FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes successively feeding an initial mixture of fuel and air into synchronised conversion units filled with an inert porous medium where a combustion wave is generated and propagates. The process of converting the mixture into synthesis gas takes place at super-adiabatic temperatures arising in the combustion wake wave, the direction of which coincides with the direction of feeding the initial mixture. Each unit is launched such that when the combustion wake wave passes the entire length of one unit, a combustion wave is generated in another, which enables to process material with significant content of heavy components without using catalysts and without preliminary purification or separation to obtain synthesis gas with constant flow and composition.
EFFECT: high degree and rate of conversion, low level of soot formation and avoiding the need for external heat input.
