SUBSTANCE: invention relates to search and detection of ionizing radiation sources and is intended for search of point sources of gamma-radiation. Method of determining location of a point source of gamma-radiation on terrain comprises steps of conducting radiation survey with measurement of dose rate of gamma-radiation, wherein measurements are taken at points lying on a circle with radius R, inside which there is a source, determining points with the smallest Pmin and the largest Pmax dose rate values, wherein it is considered that the desired source is on the line passing through said points, calculating the distance from the point with the largest Pmax value of dose rate to source of gamma radiation by formula

EFFECT: technical result is faster search and reduced dose loads on personnel involved in carrying out works.
