SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding/decoding techniques. Disclosed is a method of encoding video for predicting pixel values of each target pixel in a target block in planar mode. The method comprises computer executable steps executed by a processor of a video encoder, which includes calculating a first prediction value of each target pixel using linear interpolation between a pixel value of a horizontal boundary pixel in the same horizontal position as each target pixel from a plurality of horizontal boundary pixels at the upper side of the target block, and a pixel value of one vertical boundary pixel from a plurality of vertical boundary pixels at the left side of the target block. The method also includes a step of calculating a second prediction value for each target pixel using linear interpolation between a pixel value of a vertical boundary pixel in the same vertical position as each target pixel from a plurality of vertical boundary pixels and a pixel value of one vertical boundary pixel from a plurality of horizontal boundary pixels.
EFFECT: high efficiency of encoding/decoding video owing to intra-prediction in a planar mode, which enables to present a block with a smooth image, pixel values of which gradually change.
