SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to video encoding/decoding techniques. Disclosed is a method of encoding video for predicting pixel values of each target pixel in a target block in planar mode. Method comprises steps executed by the video encoder processor, including the calculating of the first prediction value of each target pixel using linear interpolation between pixel value of horizontal boundary pixel in the same horizontal position, as each target pixel from a plurality of horizontal boundary pixels on the upper side of the target unit, and a pixel value of one vertical boundary pixel from a plurality of vertical boundary pixels on the left side of the target unit. Further, the method includes the calculation of the second prediction value of each target pixel using linear interpolation between pixel value of vertical boundary pixel in the same vertical position, as each target pixel from a plurality of vertical boundary pixels, and pixel value of one pixel of horizontal boundary.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of video encoding/decoding owing to intra-frame prediction in planar mode, which provides representation of the unit with a smooth image, pixel values of which gradually change.
