FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance with invention 20 g of montmorillonite clay are processed with 100 ml of 0.04 M rhodamine B solution at temperature 20-22°C, pH 2 for 60 min. Solid phase is separated from liquid phase by filtration, washed with 40 ml of distilled water and dried for 3 hours at temperature 100-105°C. Sorbent, which has capacity by lead ions 196 mg/g, by cadmium ions 248 mg/g, copper ions 95 mg/g, zinc ions 106 mg/g.

EFFECT: high absorbing characteristics of obtained sorbent make it possible to use clay, modified with phodamine B as sorption-active material for purification of natural, drinking and technogenic waters, polluted with heavy metals, and for group concentration and separation of ions of heavy metals in analysis of natural and drinking waters.
