FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of converting one or more gaseous hydrocarbon streams containing methane into an aromatic hydrocarbon. The method includes the following steps: (a) passing at least one gaseous hydrocarbon stream containing methane into at least one conversion area and contacting said stream with at least one dehydroaromatisation catalyst in said area under conversion conditions to obtain a gaseous product stream containing at least one aromatic compound and hydrogen; (b) separating said gaseous product stream into a stream which contains said at least one aromatic compound and a stream which contains methane and hydrogen; (c) separating said stream which contains methane and hydrogen via cryogenic separation to provide a stream containing liquid methane and a stream containing gaseous hydrogen; improvement of the method includes combining said method with (1) at least one step and/or at least one device for heating or cooling or transporting liquefied natural gas; and/or (2) using natural gas containing more than 5 mol % higher hydrocarbons. The invention also relates to a system for implementing the method.
EFFECT: use of the present invention reduces capital costs and power consumption.
