FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to magnesium-based alloys, and to method of their manufacturing. Method of magnesium-based alloys manufacturing includes assurance of or magnesium alloy melt, addition of 0.01-30 wt % of alkali-earth metal oxide on the melt surface, surface mixing for 1 s - 60 minutes per 0.1 wt % of added alkali-earth metal oxide with assurance of its dissociation and partial consumption, assurance of the possibility of interaction of the alkali-earth metal crated as result of the alkali-earth metal oxide consumption, with magnesium and/or alloying element in the magnesium alloy with creation of the intermetallic connection, removal of the alkali-earth metal oxide remaining after reaction together with slag, pouring and crystallisation.

EFFECT: produced alloy is characterised with increased mechanical characteristics, resistance against oxidation and ignition.
