FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a silicon dioxide-supported catalyst used to produce a corresponding nitrile in vapour-phase catalytic ammoxidation of propane or isobutane. Said catalyst contains a metal oxide of formula (1): MoVaNbbXcTdZeOn … (1), wherein X is at least one or more elements selected from Sb and Te; T is at least one or more elements selected from Ti, W, Mn and Bi; Z is at least one or more elements selected from La, Ce, Yb and Y; and a, b, c, d and e are in the ranges 0.05≤a≤0.5, 0.01≤b≤0.5, 0.001≤c≤0.5, 0≤d≤1, and 0≤e≤1, respectively, and n is a value which satisfies atomic valence requirements. The silicon dioxide-supported catalyst has mean pore size of 60-120 nm, total pore volume of 0.15 cm3/g or higher, specific surface area of 5-25 m2/g, and crystal size of 40-250 nm determined by an X-ray diffraction method at peak (001) half-width. The invention also relates to a method of producing said catalyst and a method of producing a corresponding unsaturated nitrile.

EFFECT: present catalyst provides a low degree of combustion of ammonia and high output of the end product.
