FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method of surface hardening of cutting tool out of hard alloys based on tungsten carbide with cobalt binder includes action on the surface of the tool by electrons flow. The tool surface is provided with charge 0.1-0.8 mK/cm2, at that the tool surface is subjected to the electrons flow with electrons energy 0.5-1.5 MeV for at least 10 s.
EFFECT: increased wear-resistance of the tool and its service life.
