FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention describes a compression ignition fuel composition comprising diethyl ether, ethanol and water, in amounts which correspond to the reaction product of dehydration of anhydrous or hydrous ethanol with water content of up to 30 wt %, and additionally comprising lubricating oils, emulsifiers and/or antioxidants, wherein the fuel composition is characterised by: a) diethyl ether content in wt % which is higher than or equal to 50, and water content in wt % which is lower than or equal to 50 minus concentration of ethanol in wt % for mixtures containing up to 20 wt % ethanol; or b) diethyl ether content in wt % which is higher than or equal to 54 minus 0.2 times the ethanol concentration in wt %, and water content in wt % which is lower than or equal to 46 minus the 0.8 times concentration of ethanol in wt % for mixtures containing 20 to 30 wt % ethanol; or c) diethyl ether content in wt % which is higher than or equal to 61.5 minus 0.45 times the ethanol concentration in wt %, and water content in wt % which is lower than or equal to 38.5 minus the 0.55 times concentration of ethanol in wt % for mixtures containing 30 to 70 wt % ethanol. Use of said fuel does not require significant control of a conventional compression ignition internal combustion engine for operation on diesel fuel.
EFFECT: obtaining a fuel composition without ignition enhancers, which is used as standard fuel for a compression ignition internal combustion engine.
