FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to natural pigment melanin, which can be used in food, light and pharmaceutical industry. Described is method of obtaining melanin pigment from basidispores of polypores. Method consists in the fact that fruiting bodies are preliminarily populated with fungi-eating beetles for pre-processing for 20-30 days. Obtained mass is processed with ethyl alcohol with further separation of alcohol extract by centrifugation. Obtained sediment is subjected to boiling with water with weight ratio 1:20 for 2 hours.

EFFECT: claimed method provides increase of melanin output and improvement of its quality due to increased concentration of its paramagnetic centres (PMC -5,1·1017 spin/g) in comparison with melanin, obtained without said preliminary processing of fruiting bodies of polypores.
