SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of conversion of hydrocarbons to obtain synthesis-gas for ammonia production. Method of obtaining synthesis-gas from hydrocarbon-containing initial raw material includes stages of primary conversion, secondary conversion with oxidative flow and additional processing of synthesis-gas, which includes shift-conversion (MTS) at moderate temperature from 200 to 350°C, with installation of primary conversion working at ratio vapour/carbon lower than 2. Method of reconstructing installation for ammonia production includes at least stages of replacement of HTS reactor for new shift-reactor (19), operating at moderate temperature, constituting from 200 to 350°C; modification of supply of hydrocarbon (10) and vapour (11) into installation of primary conversion, providing operation of installation (12) of primary conversion at ratio vapour/carbon lower than 2, and addition of section (12a) of preliminary conversion upstream from installation of primary conversion.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase productivity and reduce specific energy consumption and volume rate of flow in synthesis-gas production.
