FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. This process for production of ammonia synthesis gas from hydrocarbon-containing feedstock 20 includes the stages of primary reforming with steam 21, secondary reforming with an oxidant stream 23 and purification of the effluent of said secondary reforming. Part of the raw material bypasses the primary reforming section via a bypass line, the ratio of the amount of water vapour to the amount of carbon in the primary reforming is from 2.5 to 3. Water vapour is added at several stages of the process. Purification includes carbon monoxide conversion stage 13, in which synthesis gas 25, obtained by secondary reforming, is subjected to medium-temperature CO-reforming in the presence of a copper-based catalyst. Further, the total value of the ratio of the amount of water vapour to the amount of carbon introduced with the raw material in this method is not higher than 2.
EFFECT: proposed inventions provide a more complete and optimal use of different sections of the installation due to the possibility of a local change in the ratio of the amount of water vapour to the amount of carbon.
