A mesh interconnection system comprises an n×m mesh system including a plurality of nodes, the plurality of nodes arranged in a first dimension and a second dimension; and a plurality of interconnects, each connecting a pair of the plurality of nodes, wherein the mesh system is configured in a first traffic independent connection state during a first cycle of a traffic schedule period and in a second traffic independent connection state during a second cycle of the traffic schedule period.
