FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: individual trays are prepared, and functional imprints in corrective silicone pastes are made according to common technique. The above imprints are used to cast diagnostic models in high-strength dental plaster. The next stage involves marking the model, i.e. drawing lines in the middle of an alveolar crest and in the middle of a neutral area, and then control measurement points are plotted. On the upper jar model, perpendicular lines are drawn from the points A1, B1, B2, K1, K2 until intersecting a mid-line of the neutral area to mark the reference points D, D1, D2, D3, D4 on the mid-line of the neutral area. Vertical dimensions of the upper jaw line are evaluated by measuring the distances B1-D3 and B2-D4 between the mid-points of maxillary prominences and the middle of the neutral area, the distances K1-D1, K2-D2 between the intersection points of the line drawn through outer borders of first lateral palatine folds to the mid-line of the alveolar crest and the middle of the neutral area, and the distance A1-D between the mid-point of an incisive papilla and the mid-line of the neutral area. On the lower jar model, perpendicular lines are drawn from the points V1, S1, S2, G1, G2 until intersecting a mid-line of the neutral area to mark the reference points E, E1, E2, E3, E4 on the mid-line of the neutral area. Vertical dimensions of the lower jar model are evaluated by measuring the distances S1-E3, S2-E4 between the mid-points of mucous prominences and the middle of the neutral area, the distances G1-E1, G2-E2 between the apex points of the alveolar crest at the mid-distance from a symphysis point to the middles of the mucous prominences and the middle of the neutral area, and the distance V1-E between the symphysis point and the mid-line of the neutral area, an atrophy in the jaw is diagnosed by the time changes of the reference point distances.
EFFECT: method enables measuring in three mutually perpendicular planes with the atrophy in the jaws detected by the time changes of the reference point distances; it increases the informational value of the examination.
