FIELD: medical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method involves fitting individual spoons, applying functional tests and producing functional casts. Preliminary anatomical casts are produced during the first visit. The casts have transition fold vault imprint, alveolar part of lip frenulum, tongue, buccoalveolar mucous strand and all anatomical formations of prosthesis bed. Models are cast and plastic individual spoons are produced. Single handle is modeled exactly in the middle of alveolar crest in its anterior segment. Individual spoon boundaries are drawn in advance on plaster model. Spoon boundaries are adjusted at the second visit first on maxilla and the on mandible by sticking 3-4 mm wide wax strip to its edge all over the perimeter. The strip is made thin with fingers and the spoon is introduced into the oral cavity. Functional tests are carried out holding it by handle. When carrying out functional tests on long or excessively thick spoon edges, wax is pressed off and spoon edges become uncovered. The spoon is filed and the procedure is repeated until wax layer remains available on spoon edge and sticking effect is retained when applying pressure to the handle. To adjust features of distal future prosthesis segment base, fluid silicon mass for producing casts is distributed over the whole spoon perimeter. The spoon is introduced into the mouth and functional tests are repeated under small finger pressure.
EFFECT: reduced risk of complications caused by nose deformities; excluded repeated operations.
