PISTON WITH COMBUSTION CAVITY, ITS SHAPE PROVIDING REQUIRED RATIO BETWEEN COMBUSTION EFFICIENCY AND EXHAUST COMPOSITION Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC F02F3/26 F02B23/06

Abstract RU 2566205 C2

FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in pistons used in internal combustion engines with compression ignition. The piston (18) for internal combustion engine (10) contains the piston housing (20) comprising the external cylindrical surface (22) pre-determining a longitudinal axis of the piston, the first axial end face (24) of the piston and the second axial end face (26) of the piston which includes the face surface (28) of the combustion cavity pre-determining the combustion cavity (30). The end face surface (28) of the combustion cavity includes the surface (32) of the cavity having the internal surface (34) and the external surface (36) of the cavity, and the surface (38) of the edge having external surface (42) adjoining the external cylindrical surface (22) and the internal surface (42) of the edge adjoining the surface (32) of the cavity. The end face surface (28) of the combustion cavity has a cross section profile which includes a profile of rotation around the longitudinal axis. The profile of rotation includes the cavity profile pre-determining the convex curvilinear segment corresponding to the internal surface (34) of the cavity and which is bisected by the longitudinal axis, and, besides, pre-determining a set of concave curvilinear segments outside of the convex curvilinear segment and corresponding to the external surface (36) of the cavity. The convex curvilinear segment has relatively small radius of curvature, and each concave curvilinear segment has the average radius of curvature. The profile of rotation comprises the edge profile pre-determining the set of rectilinear segments corresponding to the external surface (40) of the edge, and also pre-determining the set of convex curvilinear segments corresponding to the internal surface (42) of the edge each of which adjoins one of rectilinear segments. Each of the set of convex curvilinear segments has relatively large radius of curvature. The face surface (28) includes the first continuous transition (44) from the internal surface (34) to the external surface (36) of the cavity, the second continuous transition (46) from the internal surface (42) of the edge to the external surface (40) of the edge and the transition (48) from the surface (32) of the cavity to the surface (38) of the edge. The version of implementation of the piston of the internal combustion engine, mode of operation of the internal combustion engine and the internal combustion engine are described.

EFFECT: decrease of content of harmful substances in engine exhaust.
