FIELD: medical science.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to haematology and oncology, and can be used for differential diagnostics of anaemia of chronic diseases (ACD) and iron-deficiency anaemia (IDA) in patients with malignant new growths. Blood is sampled and patient’s blood serum hepcidin and ferritin are measured. A canonical linear discriminant function CLDF1 is calculated by formula: CLDF1 = 2.563405 − 0.058628 × A − 0.003146 × B, where A is the level of hepcidin in the patient's blood serum, ng/ml; B is patient’s blood serum ferritin level, mcg/l. By means of canonical analysis coefficients of canonical correlation of centroid R are calculated. For ACD, the centroid value is -1.6102351, and for IDA – 1.93228212. If the CLDF1 value is closer to the centroid -1.6102351, ACD is diagnosed in the patient. If the CLDF1 value is closer to centroid 1.93228212, IDA is diagnosed in the patient.
EFFECT: method enables as early as possible – from the first contact with the patient, obtaining a reliable individual assessment of the pathogenetic type of anaemia in patients with solid malignant neoplasms; possibility of their quick division into groups depending on pathogenetic type of anaemia: ACD and/or IDA, due to the results of laboratory tests of blood serum – hepcidin and transferrin levels.
