FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, specifically to a method for the synthesis of 2- and 4-(1,3,5-dithiazinan-5-yl)-phenols of the general formula . The method involves a reaction between o- or n-aminophenol and 1,3,5-trithiane over ferric chloride hexahydrate as a catalyst [FeCl3*6H2O], the molar ratio of o-, n-aminophenol : 1,3,5-trithiane : FeCl3*6H2O = 10:(10-12):(0.3-0.7), in argon atmosphere, acetonitrile as a solvent at the temperature of 50-70°C and atmospheric pressure, the reaction duration is 5-7 hours.
EFFECT: improved method for the synthesis of 2- and 4-(1,3,5-dithiazinan-5-yl)-phenols enables to reduce the process toxicity.
