SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to generation and processing of a three-dimensional (3D) video signal. A method of generating a 3D video signal, wherein a 3D primary video signal contains a basic video signal and an auxiliary signal, wherein the 3D video signal is a video stream in multiplexed form, includes steps of: providing a 2D secondary video signal as a secondary video signal; formatting the basic video signal to generate a basic video stream; formatting the auxiliary signal to generate an auxiliary stream; multiplexing the basic video stream with the auxiliary stream to generate said video stream; embedding the 2D secondary video signal into the video stream.
EFFECT: enabling simultaneous display of 3D video and 2D video on a 3D display.
