FIELD: medicine, pharmaceutics.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of biotechnology and deals with a peptide-nucleic acid probe (PNA) for the detection of the genus Salmonella in different types of samples, a set, including the said probe, a method of detecting Salmonella and applications of the said probe and set in the detection of Salmonella. PNA represents a synthetic molecule, analogous to DNA, which has the sequence SEQ ID No. 1 - 5'-AGG AGC TTC GCT TGC-3'. PNA-probes are combined with fluorescent in situ hybridisation (FISH) to provide the direct visualisation of microorganism in a sample. Such combination makes FISH procedure faster, simpler and more effective. PNA-probe can be applied to a large variety of samples, such as blood samples, samples of food products, biopsies, faeces, water and other clinical samples, related to the environment or agriculture and food industry.
EFFECT: faster analysis with higher sensitivity than DNA-probes in the detection of Salmonella is provided.
