FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for hydraulic metallurgy of copper. Method of production of the copper chloride (I) CuCl includes addition to the input solution, as such the solution with ratio of chlorine ion to ion of bivalent copper is 1.10÷1.15 is used, of the copper chlorine (I) in form of CuCl or in form of copper chlorine complex (I) - CuCl2 at ratio of copper ions Cu(I):Cu(II) 0.1÷0.5%. The obtained solution is treated by the process gases, namely by water gas containing 38-40 vol % of carbon monoxide (CO) by means of the gas contact with the solution upon intensive agitation during three hours at the atmosphere pressure and temperature 20-60°C.
EFFECT: invention permits rise of degree of copper chloride extraction in form of high-purity deposit of copper chloride (I) - CuCl to 97% from multi-component solutions without use of the electrolytic equipment.
