FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in chemical industry. Prussic acid is produced by evaporation of formamide at pressure of at least 600 mbar and at least 200°C in evaporator. Said evaporator consists of single-chamber vessel equipped with heating pipes fitted therein to extend parallel with each other and with its lengthwise axis. Area of outer surface of heating pipes related to the chamber volume makes at least 300 m2/m3. Hydraulic diameter of the chamber inside makes 0.01-1 m. Chamber features the length of 0.1-5 m. ID of heating pipes equals 100-6000 mcm. The least spacing between heating pipes does not exceed 3 mm. Evaporated formamide is displaced into reactor for catalytic dehydration of evaporated formamide at 350-650°C.
EFFECT: higher process selectivity with respect to prussic acid.
