FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a 99mTc-containing reaction product. The disclosed method includes providing a 100Mo metal target to be irradiated, irradiating the 100Mo metal target with a proton beam having energy for inducing a 100Mo(p, 2n) 99mTC nuclear reaction, heating the 100Mo metal target to temperature of over 300°C, recovering 99mTc produced in the 100Mo metal target (15) in a sublimation-extraction process with the aid of oxygen gas which is directed over the 100Mo metal target to form technetium oxide 99mTc. The device for producing a 99mTc-containing reaction product comprises a 100Mo metal target, an acceleration unit for generating a proton beam to be directed towards the 100Mo metal target such that during irradiation of the 100Mo metal target with a proton beam, the 100Mo(p,2n)99mTc nuclear reaction is induced, a gas inlet for directing oxygen gas to the irradiated 100Mo metal target to form technetium oxide 99mTc and a gas outlet for removing sublimated technetium oxide 99mTc.
EFFECT: obtaining technetium directly based on a nuclear reaction which occurs owing to the reaction of a proton beam with molybdenum atoms.
