METHODS, SYSTEMS AND DEVICE FOR CYCLOTRON PRODUCTION OF TECHNETIUM-99M Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC G21G1/10 H05H6/00

Abstract RU 2692729 C2

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of technetium-99m from molybdenum-100 using accelerators, such as cyclotrons. Target plate for production of technetium-99m by means of its irradiation with protons contains upper surface, on which coating is applied from powder molybdenum-100 by means of electrophoretic deposition, and a lower surface in which there is a channel for the coolant flow flowing therethrough, wherein the target plate comprises a transition metal. Method of producing a cured target plate comprises suspending and mixing the processed molybdenum-100 in the form of a metal powder with a grain size of less than about 10 mcm and a binder in a polar organic solvent, placing a target plate and an anode plate containing a conductive metal into the mixture of molybdate-100, feeding potential from 300 V to 1300 V on an anode plate and a target plate, extraction of target plate from molybdate-100 mixture and sintering of target plate at temperature from 1200 °C to 1900 °C for 3 hours to 8 hours. Also disclosed are a target capsule for mounting and placing a target plate therein, a receiving chamber which captures a target capsule, a target device for placing a target capsule and a gripping device for capturing a target capsule interacting with a drive vehicle in order to deliver a target capsule to a target device associated with the cyclotron.

EFFECT: invention provides a mechanically strong target plate and efficient conversion of molybdenum atoms into technetium atoms.
