FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: on completion of the process of effecting the sample by impact bending the polished section of the sample is prepared in advance. By means of optical microscope the image of microstructure of the section of destruction using which the size of packages of bainitic structure is determined, and the parametrical characteristics of viscous and fragile destruction are found using the following relations: dp = 0.1 db dftc = 0.6-0.8 db, for pipe steels with the strength class up to K60, dftc = 0.4-0.6 db, for pipe steels with the strength class above K60 inclusive, where: dp - the average size of a pole in a section of viscous destruction (micron), dftc - the average size of facet of transgranular chip in the section of fragile destruction (micron), db - the average size of package of bainite (micron).

EFFECT: shortening time of study and simplification of process of assessment of required characteristics.
