FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed target (30) may include an external diameter (32) wall and an internal diameter (34) wall. An isotope source may be situated between the internal diameter wall and the external diameter wall. The isotope source may contain fissile material (36), which alternates with one or more hollow regions (38). A centre region (35) may be located within the internal diameter wall and the centre region may be adapted to hold a neutron thermalisation volume within it.
EFFECT: obtaining molybdenum without using a high-power reactor, thereby improving efficiency of using the obtained isotopes owing to the production of molybdenum near the destination point.
