SUBSTANCE: absorbent article long in the longitudinal direction, comprising a fluid-permeable upper sheet located on the surface side in contact with the skin, a lower sheet located on the surface side not in contact with the skin, and an absorbent element located between the two sheets, at that the absorbent element has a longitudinal direction and a width direction that are perpendicular to each other; the absorbent element has structures which provide the passage of fluids and which are arranged respectively in the longitudinal direction and in the width direction of the absorbent element in the zone facing the emission area, and each of which is formed by concave portions having the shape of grooves and sunken from the surface side not in contact with the skin in the thickness direction, and the concave absorbent portions containing cellulosic fibres, located at the surface side in contact with the skin, the lower parts of the concave portions, and the absorbent element has projecting absorbent parts having shape of blocks which protrude toward the surface side not in contact with the skin, comprise cellulose fibres and have a higher basis weight compared to the basis weight of the concave absorbent parts, in the areas surrounded by structures providing the passage of fluids, and the concave absorbent parts of the structures providing the passage of fluids, have low density, and the protruding absorbent parts having shape of blocks have high density relative to the concave absorbent parts.
