SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing audio signals. The technical result is achieved using a device for extracting a forward signal and/or an ambient signal from a downmixing signal and spatial parametric information, which includes a forward signal and/or an ambient signal estimator and a forward signal and/or an ambient signal extractor. The forward signal and/or an ambient signal estimator is formed to estimate information on the level of the forward portion and/or ambient portion of a multichannel audio signal based on the spatial parametric information. The forward signal and/or an ambient signal extractor is formed to extract the forward portion of the signal and/or ambient portion of the signal from the downmixing signal based on information on the presumed level of the forward portion or ambient portion.
EFFECT: enabling extraction of a portion of a forward signal or a portion of an ambient signal from a downmixing signal using spatial parametric information.
