FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: magnetorheology polishing includes positioning of the optical element with creation of the work clearance between its end surface and movable carrying surface, preliminary formation of magnetorheology liquid with use of the forming element, its supply to movable carrying surface, formation of the work zone by magnetic field application in zone of the work clearance, and removal of material part from the treated end surface of the optical element. The forming element is moved to the movable carrying surface with creation between them of the slotted clearance. Preliminary formation of the magnetorheology liquid is performed by means of its passage through the slotted clearance after magnetorheology liquid supply to the movement carrying surface, and prior to its supply in the work clearance between the end surface of the optical element and movable carrying surface.
EFFECT: reduced undesirable influence of the megnetorheology liquid on the untreated part surface.
